About this deal

I loved WINTER STREET. Elin Hilderbrand has woven together a juicy cast of characters with lots of drama for this Christmas-themed family treat. ❄🎄

Daz has his own stuff going on. His best friend has gone to prison, leaving behind his wife and young son. Daz plays a big part in both their lives, which is possibly misconstrued by some.Style Notes: As much as I've enjoyed the miniskirt's revival, as we've already surmised, there's nothing fashion loves more than to do a complete 180 on a trend. Cue maxi dresses, which sashayed their way down the runways of Givenchy, Prada and Christopher Kane, to name but a few. I’d like to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for approving me for an ARC of this book. This was a first for me, having never read anything by Sue Moorcroft, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I had heard great things.

apos;Hospital Survey: Sheffield and East Midlands area& apos;, Ministry of Health, 1945 (Sheffield Local Studies 362 SQ) As is so often the case with Sue’s books, there is some really gritty content to the story, which is always written in perfect harmony with the lighter side of the tale. I absolutely loved this Christmas read from Sue Moorcroft, I mean I may be a bit biased as she is one of my go to authors for a romance or even better, a Christmas romance like this is. Her stories have everything you could want in them, community, friendships, love obviously, but for this one you can add snow, Christmas spirit, forgiveness and hope. This book was filled with community spirit and I loved how Christmas Day turned out for them all. Wilf and Sky’s friendship was endearing; once again, she had that connection and ability to help, without taking control. I knew that Abby was up to no good as soon as she appeared on the scene but it was fun seeing her story play out and watching Daz kindly put her in her place. The ending of Winter Street is not abrupt, but it leaves a few plotlines dangling. The entire book takes place over three days, and readers do not get to see every conflict completely resolved. But as each chapter cycles through narrators — giving everyone but Mitzi and Bart the chance to tell the story in his or her own way — readers get a sense of each character’s personality and perhaps can guess what might happen after the novel ends. Monthly totals, from Jan 1898 to Dec 1918, of diseases (scarlet fever, diphtheria, smallpox, measles and other diseases) numbers admitted, discharged, died and remaining in hospital, average daily number of patients variously at Lodge Moor, Crimicar Lane, Winter Street, and Moor End sanatorium; including military cases at Winter Street Hospital from 1915 (NHS9/2/1/1-6)

A White Christmas on Winter Street is now one of my favourite holiday reads and one I will return to over the years. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys holiday reads. Kevin is living at the Inn. He's ex-wife Nora did a number on him. He lost trust in women but secretly he has been dating Isabelle, a French woman who works at the Inn too. He's going to be a father and he better get with the program before he loses his chance at happiness. It was a super enjoyable read and had me excited to return whenever I had to put the book down. The narration was easy and effortless to listen to, which definitely added to the enjoyment. Couldn’t go wrong with this book! Lighthearted and as sweet as a mince pie. Lovely.

I just loved everything about these characters and this story and it was told with Sue Moorcroft's trademark warmth and sensitivity. There is a generous helping of Christmas Spirit sprinkled throughout the book too. Courtesy of Alexander McQueen; Courtesy of Ann Demeulemeester; Courtesy of Givenchy; Courtesy of Versace Bed places were set at 103 in 1954 when beds placed in the middle of wards were removed to reduce overcrowding. Children at the hospital were transferred to Ash House Hospital School in 1957. Closure by March 1970 was proposed in November 1968; the patients would be transferred to Lodge Moor Hospital. In 1971 spending was approved to adapt the premises to form a geriatric day hospital with 40 places. In mid 1974 the 84 beds were too many for the staff to cope with and the number was reduced to 65. Festive, feel-good and heartwarming from beginning to end. Curl up with your hot chocolate and enjoy being transported.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐By May 1948, Commonside Sanatorium was being run as an annexe to Winter Street Hospital, and by 1951 Dronfield Hospital was also administered in that capacity.
