About this deal

It should be highlighted that there is a recognised issue with the CPU (the Intel Atom c2000 series) and although Synology have released a fix, it is still a worry for many and has prompted Synology to increase the warranty on the Synology DS1515+ from 3 years to 4 years. Fixed the issue where the LED indicators on the drive slots of RS4017xs+ and RS2818RP+ might not work properly. New mechanism can now eliminate unnecessary system reboot during major update to keep your cluster secure and maintain high service availability. We are looking to access photos and videos from mobile devices and copying photos/videos up to the NAS. The devices are mostly iPhones and iPads, but will include Windows 10 pc’s. Fixed an issue where boot failure might occur if the system was rebooted during the conversion process from RAID 5 to RAID 6.

Added the new Low-Capacity Write function, which resumes LUNs from read-only status temporarily when a volume is running out of space. Starting from this version, the bad sector count column will not be displayed along with hard drive information. Users should go to each drive's Health Info > History to view its complete bad sector information. To determine whether bad sectors are affecting the drive, see if there's a significant increase in the number of bad sectors over time.

Fixed the issue where domain-related services might not resume working because the update of domain data could not be complete. Fixed an issue where the fan couldn't resume in full speed mode after a system reboot on models with the V1000 platform.

For example, when setting it up with a few large hard drives, you'll note that the server takes a long time to finish "optimizing" the RAID.I have a Synology DS1515+ that's been running flawlessly for almost 2 years. Suddenly & unexpectedly it died within a few days ago. It will not power on. With some searching on the interwebs I learned the problem could be either with the built-in PSU, or CPU, or the motherboard. Apparently there were quality issues in pre-2016 NAS builds. Can anyone here verify this? Considering the old Drobo FS I have has been chugging along merrily with original HDDs for almost 7 years or so this Synology crap-out really surprised me. To avoid the interruption of iSCSI service, the automatic DSM update and your power schedule to shut down may not be executed as expected if there are any active iSCSI sessions. In our next test we look at a much smaller 5k VU load where we compare the DS1815+ and DS1813+ against one another with a twin-SSD RAID1 configuration. They posted virtually identical results with 1,051.1 TPS and 1,050.8 TPS respectively. I guess I’m trying to ask if its worth me replacing the transistor and battery etc to see if it would fix the issue – Im basically trying to assess if the bridge wire/multimeter method didn’t initiate a full boot and beep sound in testing then the issue lies elsewhere?
